Manatee County and the cities of Palmetto and Sarasota are among two dozen local governments in the Tampa Bay area to form a new pact to work together to mitigate sea level rise and other consequences of climate change.
The Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition formalized this week and hopes that more local jurisdictions will join.
“I would have liked for us to sign it,” said Bradenton City Council member Patrick Roff, who wants the topic on a future agenda of that elected board. “It would be something to brag about.”
Roff said the coalition is a nonpartisan effort to address an environmental issue that crosses municipal and county boundaries.
