TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — Florida, declared in a state of emergency, has also received a federal emergency declaration that allows federal authorities to lead disaster relief efforts.

President Trump is also issuing that declaration for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Florida’s Governor Rick Scott is urging people to be pro-active, calling Irma an incredibly dangerous storm. Scott held a briefing Tuesday afternoon at the State Emergency Operations Center.

He said that everyone needs to prepare by saying, “I think right now, everybody has to assume that you’re going to get impacted.”
